Welcome to the BC Early College team! Teaching a college course within a high school environment is a unique and rewarding opportunity. To set you up for success, we are hosting a comprehensive, hands-on orientation designed specifically for our new Dual Enrollment (DE) instructors.

Please Note: Attendance is mandatory for all new Bakersfield College Dual Enrollment instructors.

We’ve packed this session with essential, practical guidance from the BC Early College team, deans, and department chairs to make your transition into the Early College setting seamless. We'll be covering topics:

• Academic Rigor & College Expectations: Dive deep into maintaining college-level standards within a high school setting and align your class syllabus with the course outline of record. 

• Dual Enrollment Instructor Responsibilities: Master the crucial administrative side of teaching a dual enrollment course. We will cover student enrollment in DualEnroll.com, textbook procurement, accessing your rosters, and tracking vital academic calendar deadlines.

• Mentorship & Collaboration: Wrap up the morning with a hosted networking lunch to meet, collaborate, and build relationships with your BC department representatives, chairs, and Deans.
